Having accrued more than 15 years of experience in engineering, Daniel O. Staples began his career journey working as a mechanic in a meat packing plant. At this time, his second child was born, inspiring his desire to return to school to have a better chance at a solid career. In 2008, he earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, while simultaneously working as a team lead for Shopko from 2004 to 2009. Subsequently, Mr. Staples joined Precision Castparts, where he served in numerous positions nationwide over the course of 12 years. He served as a management trainee and production supervisor in Portland, Oregon, operations manager in Tilton, New Hampshire and Portland, Oregon, plant manager and director of operations in Wichita, Kansas and general manager through 2021.
Among his current professional roles, Mr. Staples has excelled as the vice president and general manager of Ellwood Texas Forge Navasota, LLC since 2021 and as vice president of operations for Galaxy Technologies since 2022. Specialized in plant and multi-plant management, Mr. Staples supervises the operations of multiple sites from California to Oklahoma. He ensures that staff members meet their targets and devises long-term strategies for the company, along with operational alignment between the businesses. Additionally, he oversees equipment and machinery and spearheads additional opportunities for growing the company’s capacity to maximize output and expand the business through acquisitions. In addition to his role with Galaxy Group, Mr. Staples is on the board of Space Railway, which plans to be a disruptive game changer for the Global Space Industry.
Upon reflection, Mr. Staples attributes his success to being a naturally good leader, as he enjoys helping people grow and exceed their expectations of themselves. He is particularly proud to have been able to generate significant profit for two business units, surpassing $15 million a year. Alongside his primary work, he has served as a Scoutmaster for his local Boy Scouts of America troop and is a volunteer for the youth group at his church. He also donates regularly to Operation Underground Railroad, an organization dedicated to ending child trafficking. Looking toward the future, Mr. Staples intends to continue progressing in his field and grow in leadership by increasing the number of managed sites and integrating best practices between all.
